Today, our goal is to have product available for purchase by August 1, 2011. Our first priority, though, is to you, all the loyal Rubicon customers. Please be assured that we will gladly honor any and all warranty requests, and replacement parts will soon be available. We will continue to partner with Rubicon’s off-road jobbers and distributors.

Soon you will find high quality Rubicon Express in stock at your favorite dealer and out on the trails. We appreciate your interest in Rubicon Express and your understanding while we work to re-establish the one and only Rubicon Express.

Mike Manley, President and CEO, Jeep Brand and Pietro Gorlier, President and CEO, MOPAR Brand Service , Parts & Customer Care, talk about the upcoming 45th annual Moab Easter Jeep Safari. Includes footage of the following vehicles: Jeep Compass Canyon, Jeep Cherokee Overland, Jeep Grand Cherokee Off-road Edition, Jeep Wrangler Renegade, Jeep Wrangler ‘Pork Chop,’ Jeep Wrangler JK-8 Independence, Jeep Wranlger Blue Crush and Mopar Ram Runner.

Jeep announced today that it’s bringing several vehicles to the 2011 Easter Jeep Safari at Moab this year. One of those vehicles Jeep calls the JK-8 Independence.

According to Jeep, Mopar has designed a kit for the do-it-yourselfer that converts a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited into a pickup truck. The bed length is 50 inches and the width between the wheel wells is 44 inches. The Mopar team created body panels to cover the second-row entrance on the JK-8 Independence, and removed all of the interior parts behind the front seats. This transforms the vehicle into a two-seater with just enough room for gear inside, and a pickup style bed to be used for outside cargo.

The JK-8 kit includes bed floor, inner/outer body panels, half hard top (works with Freedom Top panels), and a new bulkhead. No word on pricing yet.

The JK-8 headed to Moab has a drivetrain fitted with a Mopar/Dynatrac ProRock 44 front axle and stock Dana 44 rear axle, both spun with 4.88 gears. Linking the axles to the frame is a 4.5-inch long-arm suspension kit and 37-inch BF Goodrich Mud Terrain KM2 tires make the connection to the ground. A fresh coat of yellow paint and Mopar’s off-road bumpers for the front and rear were utilized along with a new fuel door and slush mats.

King of the Hammers this week

Posted: February 10, 2011 in Uncategorized

All this week a relatively peaceful area out in the Mojave Desert becomes the place to be in the off-road community. Hammertown, as it’s become known, is the base for with everything for the enthusiast with off-road racing as well as a vendor show, land-rights seminars and more. Over 60,000 people flock to watch and race the King of the Hammers (KOH), bringing together race buggies on a grueling 100+ mile race through the open desert at high speeds and over hardcore rock crawling. Now in it’s 5th year, this event has exploded onto the scene and is an amazing spectacle of man and machine that shows no signs of slowing down.

The event started Sunday with UTV races and buggy last chance qualifiers (LCQs) all leading up to the main event this Friday, February 11th. The top 100 qualifying teams will take to the trail and compete to be crowned the King of the Hammers. If you’re heading out to KOH to catch the action there are new rules in effect to keep everyone safe. For a full listing of schedule, maps, rules, and more. Check out KOH.
